Start with critical services
The most productive starting point is not a control catalogue. It is a clear view of the business services that must remain available, the applications and suppliers that support them, and the impact of disruption. That creates a shared language between technology, risk and business leadership.
Connect governance to evidence
Policies matter, but evidence shows whether the operating model works. Incident records, recovery tests, vulnerability remediation, change outcomes and third-party reviews should form one connected evidence chain rather than separate compliance exercises.
Make resilience part of delivery
Architecture reviews, release decisions and vendor selection should include resilience requirements before production. When DORA controls are added after delivery, they become expensive documentation work. When they shape design, they improve the service itself.
Measure readiness, not paperwork
Useful measures show recovery capability, dependency risk, test coverage and remediation progress. The objective is confidence that the organisation can respond and recover, supported by evidence that regulators and executives can understand.
